Chicago Sky Center Stefanie Dolson to Play in NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
CHICAGO - Chicago Sky center Stefanie Dolson will be among the famous faces set to go head-to-head at the 2018 NBA All-Star Celebrity game, which takes place Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. CST.
The 2018 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game presented by Ruffles, airing on ESPN and the ESPN app, will be hosted at the Verizon Up Arena at the Los Angeles Convention Center and is part of NBA All-Star 2018.
Dolson, a WNBA All-Star and two-time NCAA champion with the University of Connecticut, grew up watching the NBA All-Star Weekend, but never could have guessed that this would be the year she would be included in the line-up of events.
"I'm just so excited," Dolson said. "I'm excited to be a part of the celebrity game, but most of all just to be here in L.A. for the whole weekend. There is so much going on and so many people. It is such a great, fun energy that it is hard to put into words."
Dolson was selected as one of two WNBA stars to be featured on the team rosters, joining Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks.
"And, of course, I'm looking forward to playing and meeting all these celebrities like Jamie Foxx and Anthony Anderson," Dolson said.
ESPN's The Jump host Rachel Nichols and fellow ESPN commentator Katie Nolan will serve as celebrity coaches for the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game presented by Ruffles. Nichols will be joined by Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady and actor Michael B. Jordan to coach "Team Lakers." Nolan will be joined by NBA legend and ESPN analyst Paul Pierce, as well as actor, recording artist, and Chicago-native Common to coach "Team Clippers."
Team Clippers will include Dolson, as well as Anthony Anderson (ABC's "black-ish"), Brandon Armstrong (actor, social media star), Miles Brown (ABC's "black-ish"), Win Butler (Arcade Fire), Andre De Grasse (Olympic sprinter), Jamie Foxx (actor, singer, musician), Dascha Polanco (actress, activist), Bubba Watson (two-time Masters champion) and Jason Williams (NBA legend).
Team Lakers, the opposing team, will include Justin Bieber (singer), Sterling Brim (MTV's "Ridiculousness"), Nick Cannon (actor, recording artist, star of MTV's Wild'N Out), Terence Crawford (boxer), Rachel DeMita (NBA2KTV host, actress, model), Jerry Ferrara (STARZ's "Power"), Marc Lasry (Milwaukee Bucks co-owner), Caleb McLaughlin (Netflix's "Stranger Things") ,Candace Parker (WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks), Nate Robinson (NBA legend), Drew Scott (HGTV's "Property Brothers") and Kris Wu (actor, singer, music producer).
The Chicago Sky will tip off the 2018 WNBA season on Saturday, May 19, when it travels to the Indiana Fever at 12 p.m. CST. The Sky's 2018 Home Opener at the new Wintrust Arena in Chicago's South Loop is set for Sunday, May 20 when the team faces off against the New York Liberty at 6 p.m. CST.
