Chicago Machine News Release

Boston, MA - Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional lacrosse league, announced Friday that Chicago Machine Attackman Kevin Leveille has been named to the 2009 All Major League Lacrosse Team, recognizing the best players at each position.

Chicago's Kevin Leveille was voted onto the 2009 All-MLL Team following a solid season for the Machine. The former UMass Minuteman had a huge impact on offense for the Machine this season. Leveille finished second in the league in goals scored this season with 35, and added 8 assists for a total of 44 points. In his six seasons, Leveille has scored at least 40 points in all but one year. On July 4th, he was awarded the Bud Light Game MVP after scoring 7 goals and 1 assist, or 8 points, as the Machine defeated the Toronto Nationals. Leveille has a career 200 goals and 258 points.

"Kevin Leveille is by far one of the most exciting lacrosse players to play in the MLL," said John Combs, coach of the Chicago Machine. "His style and vision for the game of lacrosse is exciting and engaging to watch and he is a true team leader. It is a pleasure to watch Kevin work his magic on the lacrosse field and he well deserves this accolade and more."

"It's an honor to be named to the All-MLL Team once again," said Kevin. "To be selected as one of the top players in a league that's built of the best players in the world is truly an accomplishment. Of course, I would trade it all to be competing this weekend in the MLL Championships in Annapolis. Our team's goal was to compete for the championship and after ups and downs all season, we came up just a little short. But the frustration was offset by a great summer season and a chance to play with a lot of new guys after changes in the league makeup. I'm looking forward to next season."

Named to the All MLL Team were:

Attack: Merrick Thomson (Toronto), Kevin Leveille (Chicago), Brendan Mundorf (Denver)

Midfield: Paul Rabil (Boston), Kyle Dixon (Washington), Joe Walters (Toronto)

Defense: Brodie Merrill (Toronto), Kyle Sweeney (Boston), Lee Zink (Denver), Matt Bocklet (Denver)

Goalkeeper: Jesse Schwartzman (Denver)

Face-off Specialist: Alex Smith (Washington)

The All-MLL selections were based on votes submitted by the general managers and head coaches of the six MLL teams.
