April 3, 2009 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Chicago Machine
Chicago, IL - Red is out and Chicago blue is in. When the Chicago Machine pro lacrosse team takes the field on Saturday, May 30 for their home opener at Soldier Field they will be sporting brand new "black \'n\' blue" uniforms featuring Chicago\'s signature light blue and a freshened logo.
Inspired by Chicago-based players eager to show their support for their hometown and for the city\'s bid to host the 2016 Olympics, the new uniforms feature the light blue of the Chicago flag, accented with black and white. The logo retains the Machine-like "gear" motif with the team name, a lacrosse stick, and a red lacrosse ball - a final nod to the city\'s flag and its red stars. The team\'s former uniforms were red and black.
Chicago Machine co-captain and All-Star Kevin Leveille helped spearhead the logo and uniform change. "We wanted to show our support for the City of Chicago, especially this coming summer as we wait the final decision from the International Olympic Committee on who will host the 2016 Olympic Games and 2016 Paralympic Games. We live in one of the greatest cities on earth and we will wear these uniforms with great pride.
The Machine gets its first chance to inflict some "black and blue" hits on its opponents when its 4th season opens May 16 at INVESCO Field in Denver when they take on the Denver Outlaws. They play an away game on May 22 at BMO Field in Toronto against the new Toronto Nationals.
The Machine\'s home opener will take place at Soldier Field on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 3 pm. The game will be the first time lacrosse has been played at Soldier Field. Tickets are on sale at www.chicagomachine.com or by calling (312) 255-1522. The theme for the home opener is "Affordable Family Fun" day with tickets 50% off General Admission for all government employees and their families.
