Chicago Heads to Portland for Preseason Tournament

CHICAGO - The Chicago Red Stars will head to Portland, Oregon to participate in the Thorns Spring Invitational, presented by Tillamook, at Providence Park. Taking place from March 26 to April 1, the Red Stars will take on the Thorns and Houston Dash of the NWSL and the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team.

"We realized after last season that we needed to take on challenging opponents during preseason to prepare for the rigorous NWSL season," Red Stars head coach Rory Dames said. "With the tournament we are able to take on top teams in the NWSL and the U-23's, which will be highly beneficial when regular season kicks off and give us a great look at our roster at that time."

Chicago kicks off on Sunday, March 26 against Portland, face the Dash on Wednesday, March 29, and finish the tournament against the U-23 WNT on Saturday, April 1. All Chicago matches are scheduled for 5 p.m. Pacific.

Individual tickets, which allow entry to both matches each day, start at $8 and go on sale to the general public starting Tuesday, February 21, at 10 a.m. PT online here (http://thornsfc.com/) . Full tournament ticket packages, starting at $15, will be available for purchase online.
