Chicago Fire Top Florida Gulf Coast University 2-0 in Preseason Scrimmage

BRADENTON, Fla. (Feb. 17, 2018) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club defeated Florida Gulf Coast University 2-0 in a preseason scrimmage at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. on Saturday afternoon.

The Fire opened scoring in 19th minute when Christian Dean played a ball over the top to Elliot Collier. The Loyola University Chicago product brought down the ball in front of the goal for Omar Castro, who quickly redirected it in to get the Men in Red on the board.

Albert Ruiz would double the lead for the Men in Red by heading in a Diego Campos corner kick in the 27th minute.

Goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland earned the shutout, playing the full 75 minutes of the shortened match.

The Fire next face USL side Nashville SC at the IMG Academy on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. CT.
