Chicago Fire Academy U-16s Set for Generation Adidas Cup

The Chicago Fire Academy U-16 side is set to begin competition in the 2016-17 edition of the Generation adidas Cup, with the opening round of qualifying play beginning Friday (Oct. 7) at Swope Soccer Park in Kansas City.
The Fire will do battle with fellow MLS Academy sides from Sporting KC (Oct. 7), Toronto FC (Oct. 8) and Houston Dynamo (Oct. 10). Come February, the same six clubs competing in this weekend's Central Region round-robin will convene again in Houston, with the top teams after six matches advancing to the Generation adidas Cup finals in Frisco, Texas, in April 2017.
Last spring, the Chicago Fire U-16s reached the national stage of competition and posted a 1-3-1 record in Frisco.
