Chesapeake Outlasts Blaze Comeback
KENNESAW- On July 22nd the Atlanta Blaze hosted the Chesapeake Bayhawks at 7 PM at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The Blaze found themselves early and then battled back to end in a one-goal game.
Adam Ghitelman started in goal for the Blaze. Brian Sherlock scored his first goal in a Blaze jersey to start the game. Chesapeake answered with 2 goals of their own to end the quarter 1-2.
Atlanta only scored two of the seven goals in the second quarter. Sherlock had his second of the night and Randy Staats had the other of the quarter for the Blaze. The Blaze trailed 3-7 going into the half.
Kevin Rice had the Blaze's two goals in the 3rd quarter and the Blaze defense limited the Chesapeake offense to just one goal. The Blaze trailed by just three going into the fourth quarter 5-8.
The Blaze won the fourth quarter scoring 7 of 12 goals in the final quarter. Chesapeake broke the 12-12 tie late in the game, leaving the Blaze without an opportunity to retaliate. Matt Mackrides had two goals in a row for the Blaze during the final quarter. Chesapeake won the game 12-13.
