Checkers Reduce Roster by Seven

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers head coach and general manager Jeff Daniels announced today the team has made seven cuts to its training camp roster, which now stands at 24 players.

Assigned to the Checkers' ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades, were forwards Justin Shugg and Brody Sutter, defensemen Tommi Kivisto and Beau Schmitz, and goaltender John Muse. Additionally, defenseman Austin Levi was returned to Plymouth of the Ontario Hockey League and forward Leigh Salters was released from his tryout contract and will report to Florida.

The Checkers begin a nine-game road trip Saturday in Houston (8:05 p.m. ET - ESPN730.com) to start the season and will return to Charlotte for the home opener on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com and the Time Warner Cable Arena box office.
