Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA - The first four hitters in the Storm Chasers order each collected two hits and SS Dusty Coleman crushed a two-run homer to right, while starter John Lannan fired a quality start as Omaha snapped their three-game skid with an 8-4 victory over the Memphis Redbirds on Wednesday afternoon at Werner Park.

After the two clubs traded single tallies heading into the last of the second, Omaha (18-14) erupted for a five-run second. Coleman's two-run blast began a stretch of six consecutive two-out hits, which included back-to-back-to-back run-scoring knocks from CF Brett Eibner, 1B Jose Martinez and 3B Hunter Dozier to cap the big inning at 6-1.

Following the Redbirds' single scores in the third and fourth, Omaha plated two more runs to finish their work at the plate. Martinez drove in his second RBI of the contest with a double to deep center, before C Tony Cruz roped an RBI single to left to extend the Storm Chasers advantage to 8-3. Memphis (13-17) added one more run in the seventh via CF Nick Martini's RBI groundout.

Eibner (2-5, R, RBI), Martinez (2-5, R, 2B, RBI) and Coleman (2-2, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB), along with LF Jorge Bonifacio (2-4, 2 R, BB) and RF Whit Merrifield (2-5,2 R) each recorded two hits in the contest to lead Omaha. Eight of the Storm Chasers' nine players in the starting lineup also recorded at least one hit. Memphis 3B Patrick Wisdom (2-5, R, 3B), LF Anthony Garcia (2-3, R, BB) and C Jesse Jenner (2-3, R, BB) all collected multi-hit efforts for the Redbirds.

Storm Chasers southpaw John Lannan (6.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO) earned his third victory of the year, yielding three runs, two of which were earned, while scattering nine hits. Lannan has recorded two of the club's four quality outings this season. Redbirds starter Thomas Lee (1.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB) suffered the defeat to fall to 1-3.

The victory snapped Omaha's three-game losing skid, their longest such stretch of the season. Coleman's big fly was the 46th roundtripper hit at Werner Park this season, the highest total of any minor league ballpark in 2016. Omaha and their opponents have split those 46 longballs even at 23 each.

With the series even, the Storm Chasers will face off in game three of the four-game set on Thursday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Werner Park. Omaha is slated to send RHP Luke Farrell (1-0, 3.81) to the hill, while Memphis is expected to counter with former Storm Chasers RHP J.C. Sulbaran (2-2, 3.68).
