Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery has been honored by Berkeley County Council which has passed a resolution congratulating the Charleston Battery on its success in the 2010 season. The Charleston Battery defeated the Richmond Kickers 2-1 in September to claim the USL Championship, the Battery's third.

Berkeley County Supervisor Dan Davis said, "It is a great privilege to honor the Charleston Battery, its team members and staff for their achievement of the Championship trophy for 2010. What a great season. The Battery is to be commended not only for their success on the field but for their contribution to the youth in the Charleston area."

In addition to congratulating the Charleston Battery for the Championship victory Berkeley County Council also recognized the work of the Club staff and team members for their commitment to the Daniel Island Community and youth soccer in the Lowcountry.

Berkeley County Council further Resolved that March 5, 2011 will be proclaimed Charleston Battery Day in Berkeley County to commemorate not only their outstanding performance on the soccer field but to acknowledge the team's commitment to the community and the youth of the area.

The Charleston Battery kicks off its 2011 campaign this Saturday with a pre-season match versus Major League Soccer's DC United at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island, SC; kick off is set for 7:15 PM.
