Battle Creek Revolution News Release


(Battle Creek, Mi) The Battle Creek Revolution are proud to announce two player signings that are sure to make an impact on the ice for the 2010-2011 season. The Revolution have come to an agreement with goaltender Matt Kinsella between the pipes and defensemen Ryan Huggett to defend blue line for the upcoming season. Per club policy, details of the contracts will not be disclosed.

Ryan Huggett returns to the Revolution following the completion of a trade with the Queen City Storm. The Battle Creek native stands at 5"11 and 185lbs, and started his playing career in 07-08 playing college hockey at UMASS-Boston playing in 25 games for the hockey club. Huggett started the 08-09 season with UMASS, before coming backto Battle Creek tosuite up for his hometown team the Revolution. Huggett helped tolead the team to the Championship Cup Finals that season. In his first pro season Huggett played in 22 games scoring three goal and adding 10 assist for 13 points. Huggett was traded to the Chi-Town Shooters following the season and wasthentraded to the Evansville Icemen were he helped lead his team to the Davidson Cup Championship. The hard hitting defender scored 1 goal and added 7 assist for 8 points during the season. His solid play earned him a call up to the Bloomington Prairie Thunder of the International Hockey League were he played two games.

"I'm excited to be returning home to my city to help finish something we started two seasons ago and bring the Davidson Cup to Battle Creek," stated, Ryan Huggett. "It always an amazing thing to win a championship with any professional team like the Icemen, but it would be even better to do it in my hometown."

The Revolution believe that they have signed one of the top goaltenders in the All American Hockey League to back stop the pipes for the upcoming season. The Toronto, Ontario native will start his second pro season with the Revolution. Matt played four season of various junior leagues in Canada before turning pro last season after being drafted by the Revolution in the All American Hockey League Camp last season. Matt started the season with the Revolution before being traded to the Detroit Hitmen were he broke out as a star before he was traded back to the Revolution. Matt became the starting goaltender for the Revolution, but battled injuries before his stellar playoff performance last season trying to lead the Revolution back against the Icemen. Matt also during his rookie season had a call up to the International Hockey League Flint Generals for one game.

"I'm really excited to be back in Battle Creek I have a ton of faith in the organization, from the Ownership, to the coaching staff, to the players," stated, Matt Kinsella. "I know Coach Clouston, will put a great product on the ice this season for the fans and anything short of a championship would be a disappointment."

The Revolution will open up training camp on October 16th, with players reporting for physicals. The Revolution will then hold two days of practice before their preseason schedule opens up with games against the Blizzard. The regular season is slated to begin on Friday night October 22nd. The Revolution currently have four players under contract for the 2010-11 season with Chris Affinati and Rob Schweyer returning from last season team along with the additions of Kinsella and Huggett. The Revolution also have five players under training camp agreements from the AAHL Free Agent.
