Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla., - As the Pensacola Blue Wahoos come to an end of their historic 2016 season, closer Alejandro Chacin has been named a Southern League Postseason All-Star. Chacin has led the Southern League almost the entire season in saves (27) and games finished (43).

Chacin is also in the top five in highest SO/ 9 IP ratio (10.61). On Sunday, Chacin broke the Blue Wahoos franchise record for single season saves (25), previously set in 2015 by Zach Weiss.

This is the second all-star team Chacin has made this season after being selected to the Southern League Mid-Season All-Star team. In his first season of AA ball, the right-hander has gone 5-2 with a 1.87 ERA and 27 saves.

Chacin has maintained all year that he puts the team first. "I just do my job," Chacin said. "As a reliever my job is to come in and keep the score the same... give our team a chance to win."

The Wahoos have won a franchise record 75 games this season. They would not be battling for a third straight half-season south division title if were not for the performance of Alejandro Chacin.
