Center Eric Hunter Reassigned to the Thunder

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, announced center Eric Hunter has been reassigned to the Thunder from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.

Hunter was recalled to Oklahoma City, the AHL affiliate of the Thunder and Oilers, most recently on Feb. 23. He signed an AHL contract with Oklahoma City on Nov. 6, 2012 and was originally signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Aug. 30.

Hunter, 26, is fourth on the Thunder with a career high 17 goals this season and has 38 points in 57 games. Before his most recent departure, he posted five points in a stretch of six ECHL games.

This season, Hunter has collected a goal and six penalty minutes in 11 games with the Barons. The 6-foot-1 and 194 pound forward also has 17 points in 89 career AHL games with Lake Erie and Oklahoma City.

Hunter was twice selected in the NHL Entry Draft, beginning with the Chicago Blackhawks in the eighth round (229th overall) in 2004 and with the New York Rangers in the sixth round (174th overall) in 2006.

The Thunder returns to play on Friday at San Francisco beginning at 7:15 p.m. (1280 AM KWSX/StocktonThunder.com).

A two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," the Thunder led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew over 200,000 fans for the seventh consecutive season in 2011-12.
