CBL Adds Cary Invasion for 2011 Season
The Continental Basketball League has added the Cary Invasion to its 2011 team line up. "The team has been in the planning stages and ready to pull the trigger for over a year," says General Manager and Owner of the Cary Invasion, Mark Janas.
Janas was an original and founding member of the Wilmington Sea Dawgs, one of the most successful teams in all of independent minor league basketball. He divested from the Sea Dawgs earlier this year in order to devote time and attention to the Invasion, and just as importantly, to develop a regional travel partner for the Sea Dawgs and the new CBL Fayetteville organization.
"Leaving the Sea Dawgs was a difficult decision, but Cary has the right demographics around which to support and build a minor league brand. It is also in my backyard and positioned to support my other business interests," adds Janas. The team will play its home games at the Herbert Young Community Center in downtown Cary, North Carolina and will announce its final roster later this week. Long-time assistant coach at St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC, Marqus Johnson, has been appointed the team's head coach.
