'Cats Rally Late and Split Series with 'Dogs

Portland, Maine - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (42-51) rallied for two runs in the eighth inning and upended the Sea Dogs (34-59) 5-4 in the series finale in front of a sellout crowd on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

Trailing 4-3 in the eighth, Christian Lopes singled off Austin Maddox (L, 2-2) with one and and stole second base. Jason Leblebijian drove him in with an RBI single and advanced to second on an error, then Rowdy Tellez singled to score Leblebijian and put the 'Cats ahead for good 5-4.

The loss erased a quality start for Teddy Stankiewicz, his team leading 10th. Stankiewicz went six innings and allowed three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out five.

Fisher Cats starter Shane Dawson allowed four runs on six hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out four.

John Stilson (W, 4-0) and Chris Smith (S, 4) combined for three hitless innings to shut the door for New Hampshire.

Portland had RBI hits by Andrew Benintendi (1-3, 2B, RBI, BB, R), Ryan Court (2-4, RBI), and Mauricio Dubon (0-2, RBI). Yoan Moncada (1-2, 2 BB, 2 R) extended his on-base streak to 14 games.

The Sea Dogs head south to Trenton to begin a three-game series with the Thunder tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. LHP Jalen Beeks (0-2, 5.89) is scheduled to start for Portland against LHP Jordan Montgomery (8-3, 2.47) for Trenton.
