SUGAR LAND, TX - The Sugar Land Skeeters announced today that minor league catcher and Houston native Koby Clemens will join the club when it returns home on Friday from the current road trip in York, Pennsylvania. The announcement was made by Skeeters President Matt O'Brien.

Clemens, 25, will join Sugar Land after spending the 2012 season with the Toronto Blue Jays organization, where he hit .246 (47x191) over 64 total minor league games.

"First off, I want to thank the Toronto Blue Jays for the opportunity they gave me this year. It was some solid baseball and I enjoyed working hard for them," said Clemens.

"I also want to thank them for allowing me this opportunity to catch my pops in what should be a fun-filled event in Sugar Land. We've had the opportunity to work alongside each other a few years back but never in a pitcher/catcher battery. I'm looking forward to this and hope everyone looking on enjoys it."

Originally selected by the Houston Astros in the in eighth round of the June 2005 draft, Clemens reached the Triple A level with the Astros before joining the Blue Jays organization in February of this year. Clemens took home the California League batting title (.345) in 2009 as a member of Houston's Class A Lancaster JetHawks and led all minor league players with 123 RBI that year. The following season, he led Double A Corpus Christi in multiple offensive categories, including home runs (26) and RBI (85), and was ultimately named Corpus Christi's Co-Player of the Year.

In eight professional seasons with the Houston (2005-11) and Toronto (2012) organizations, Clemens owns a career .264 (716x2717) average and has played five defensive positions, including catcher, since his rookie season in 2005.

"This is cool stuff," said Roger Clemens. "Having Koby, my oldest son, back there to catch a game will be great. I'm glad he's getting the opportunity to do so. We will have many special guests there to watch. Thanks again to Sugar Land!"

"Our journey with Roger really began with Koby," said O'Brien. "All season long, the ballpark has been the backdrop for great father/son memories. We are excited this one is coming together for the Clemens family."
