Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

A brilliant performance on the mound from Ryan Carpenter and timely hitting from the Isotopes offense was enough to put away the El Paso Chihuahuas tonight, 5-0 from Southwest University Park. The victory marked the first shutout of the season for the Isotopes.

Carpenter was dominant on the mound for Albuquerque. The southpaw did now allow a run over his 7.1 innings on the mound. Carpenter allowed just five hits, did not surrender a walk and struck out six.

The outing was the longest by an Albuquerque starting pitcher this season. Jeff Hoffman and Zach Jemiola each tossed seven innings in previous starts on the year.

Six Isotopes batters recorded hits on Tuesday evening. Rafael Ynoa led the way with two RBI, while Stephen Cardullo, Anthony Bemboom and Jordan Patterson each knocked home a run.

Raimel Tapia finished the evening 2-for-5. The multi-hit game for the 23-year-old was his sixth in a row. Tapia now has multi-hit games in 11 of 18 games played this season for the Isotopes.

Albuquerque and El Paso are back at it tomorrow evening from Southwest University Park. The Isotopes will turn to reigning PCL Pitcher of the Week Jeff Hoffman (1-2, 3.86). The Chihuahuas turn to righty Bryan Rodriguez. First pitch from El Paso is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
