CAROLINA THUNDERBIRDS at WATERTOWN WOLVES

Coach Trevor Karasawiecz and the Watertown Wolves looked to repeat last night's victory against the Carolina Thunderbirds in their second of a two-game series at the Watertown Municipal Arena Saturday night.

C J Blaszka put Carolina on the scoreboard first when he bounced a puck past net minder Matt Kaludis. Tyler Gjurich returned the favor for the Wolves when he went 5-hole on Thunderbird emergency goal tender Nick Niedert. The Wolves killed Stephen Gallo's tripping penalty before taking the lead. Rookie Corey Scott earned his second goal on an assist from Dallas Ingram in the last minute to end the period with a 2-1 score for the Wolves.

The second period started with tempers boiling over. Carloina's Skyler Smutek tangled up with Stephen Gallo resulting in Gallo earning an additional aggressor penalty, game misconduct, and an ejection on top of the mutual five for fighting. Smutek would continue to play with aggression tangling up with Sean Mataak getting each of them a game misconduct. Dallas Ingram scored his first goal of the season on a fast break to a one-on-one with Niedert extending the Wolves lead. Yuto Osawa was called on a hooking penalty giving the Wolves a power play with just eight seconds left in the period. Watertown needed only seven seconds of the power play to get a power play goal from John Scully. The Wolves finished a strong second period with a 4-1 lead.

Matt Kaludis and the Watertown defense kept the Thunderbirds at bay preventing no additional goals in the third period.

Dallas Ingram's goal and assist earned him first star of the game. Kyle Powell was credited with the second star for his two assists. Goal Tender Matt Kaludis was credit with the third star for his net minding.

The Watertown Wolves will have their next home game on Thursday, November 30 against the Cornwall Nationals at the Watertown Municipal Arena. The action begins at 7:30 pm.
