February 2, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
ALBUQUERQUE, NM, Feb. 2, 2010 - Thunderbirds forward Carlos Powell has been selected to participate in the 2009-2010 NBA D-League All-Star Game. The game will be played in Dallas on Saturday, February 13, at 1 pm MST and can be seen live on NBA TV. Powell is in his first season with the Thunderbirds after playing last season in Korea. The do-everything forward from South Carolina is currently fifth in the NBA D-League in scoring at 22.5 ppg, while also posting averages of 4.9 rpg, 4.9 apg, and 1.8 spg. He currently leads the T-Birds in scoring, assists, steals and minutes per game.
This will be his second NBA D-League All-Star game appearance, after also participating in 2008 while with the Dakota Wizards. Powell has lived up to expectations after being selected with the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA D-League draft, and will look to add to his already impressive resume when he takes the floor in Dallas. Albuquerque also had one NBA D-League All-Star during the 2008-09 season, when Will Conroy represented the Thunderbirds in Phoenix. Powell will play three home games this week as the team wraps up a grueling nine game homestand. The T-Birds have games on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. All games take place at Tingley Coliseum, and begin at 7 pm.
