Capitals Bounce Back with First Shutout of the Year

Yuma, AZ - The Edmonton Capitals played their second defensive gem of the young season Monday night in Yuma. Four Capitals pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout as the Caps blanked the Scorpions 1 - 0. Alexander Francisco earned the win with seven strong innings picking up four strikeouts along the way. Lou Pote, Broc Coffman and Chad Blackwell didn't allow a single hit the rest of the way. Edmonton manufactured their run with three straight singles from Larry Bigbie, Tom Collaro and Pete Farina.
Four of the Capitals six games have been decided by two runs or less. Edmonton's record improves to 2 and 4 and they'll have a chance to win the series against the Scorpions Tuesday night. Mike Hrynio will get his second start of the season for the Capitals.
