Canucks Reduce Roster; Send Two To Manitoba

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced today they have reduced their training camp roster by four players and re-assigned a pair of those players to Manitoba. As a result, the Canucks now have 41 players remaining in camp.

The following players were re-assigned to the Moose:

Karl Goehring Goaltender

Juraj Simek Right Wing

The following players were re-assigned to their junior clubs:

Yann Sauve Defence Saint John

Taylor Ellington Defence Everett

Goehring, 29, appeared in 26 games last season with the Syracuse Crunch where he posted a 2.12 goals against average, a .930 save percentage, with a 15-8-2 record as well two shutouts. In the post-season, Goehring helped the Crunch eliminate the Moose in six games, and posted a 7-6 record throughout the playoffs with a 2.39 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

Simek, 20, played in 66 games with the Moose where he scored seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points and 30 penalty minutes in his rookie pro season. In one Calder Cup playoff game, the Presov, Slovakia native scored a goal in Game 1 of the North Division Semi-Final at Syracuse.
