'Canes Agree to Terms with Patrick Brown

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Patrick Brown on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Brown $650,000 on the NHL level or $75,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level for the 2016-17 season.

Brown, 24, split the 2015-16 season between the Hurricanes and the team's AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. The Bloomfield Hills, MI, native totaled two points (1g, 1a) and four penalty minutes in seven NHL games with Carolina, and notched 25 points (13g, 12a) in 70 AHL games, ranking tied for fifth among Checkers in goals. Brown (6'1", 210 lbs.) originally signed with Carolina as a free agent in April 2014, and made his NHL debut in the team's 2014-15 season opener. He has earned two points (1g, 1a) in 14 career NHL games with the Hurricanes and 35 points (15g, 20a) in 130 career AHL games with Charlotte.
