Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. - The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) has announced the official list of Canadian Women's National Team allocated players from the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) for the 2016 season, with two Western New York Flash players earning allocation status for the season.

Goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo has been allocated for the first time by the CSA, while forward Adriana Leon will maintain her allocation status for the upcoming season.

D'Angelo, 22, was drafted by the Flash with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft out of the University of South Carolina. D'Angelo featured in seven matches during her rookie season, recording a 1.57 goals against average in 555 minutes. Recently, the Welland native was named to Canada's January camp roster, as the team preps for CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying.

Leon, 23, was acquired by the Flash in November via trade with the Chicago Red Stars. A graduate of Notre Dame, Leon was allocated to the Boston Breakers in 2013 before being traded to Chicago. Last year, Leon played in five matches, scoring a goal on August 12 against Sky Blue FC. A native of Toronto, Leon has totaled 38 caps with Canada and has five international goals.

The placement of the Canada's allocated individuals was accomplished using the league's prior placement processes, as that process began prior to the adoption of the new rule. The new Player Allocation Process, which was announced on Jan. 15, 2016, will be in effect moving forward to distribute the rights to any new individuals to clubs in the league.

As allocated players, D'Angelo and Leon's salaries will be covered by the Canadian Soccer Association and will not impact the Flash's 2016 salary cap.

Tickets for the 2016 season are currently on sale at wnyflash.com or by calling (716) 655-PLAY.
