July 12, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release

Vancouver, B.C.- The Vancouver Canadians three-game winning streak came to a screeching halt on Monday night as the Tri-City Dust Devils moved one game clear of the C's in the North Division after a 4-1 victory. The loss was absorbed in front of a sellout crowd of 6,413 and 383 pets out at Scotiabank Field.

Tri-City managed a pair of runs off of Canadians starter LHP Juliandry Higuera who took the loss, falling to 1-3, and LHP Grayson Huffman also allowed a pair of runs in the top of the 7th to give Tri-City a 4-0 lead.

Vancouver loaded the bases in the bottom of the 9th inning, and saw Dust Devils RHP Will Stillman walk in a run to break the shutout bid. Canadians C Javier Hernandez watched Tri-City pull its closer out of the bullpen in the form of David Bednar who with two out, struck Hernandez out on a wicked slider that caught him looking to leave the bases loaded and send Vancouver to its first loss in four games.

With the loss, Vancouver (13-12) falls one game back of Tri-City (14-11) in the North Division with 13 games remaining in the first half of the Northwest League season. The Canadians now head out on the longest road trip of the season with five games in Boise (July 13-17) and Spokane (July 18-20) before returning to Scotiabank Field on Thursday, July 21st at 7:05pm to host Eugene.
