Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

The Canada Soccer's Women's National Team has announced it will host Germany on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Tim Hortons Field. Both teams are ranked in the top five in FIFA's Women's World Rankings, as Canada (#5), the two-time Olympic Bronze Medal winners, will take on the reigning Olympic Champions from Germany (#2).

"This will be an exciting match for Canada Soccer, as it will mark new head coach Kenneth Heiner-Muller's first home match at the helm of our National Women's Team Program, but also because we will be returning to Hamilton - a city that continues to be a strong supporter of soccer and of our National Women's Team," said Peter Montopoli, Canada Soccer General Secretary. "We are looking forward to returning to Tim Hortons Field to compete against a truly world-class opponent in Germany in front of a CanadaRED crowd."

Fans can anticipate an eventful match as the two teams, who have built a fierce rivalry over the past few years, gear up in preparation for key FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifiers. The two sides have faced off three times since the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015, including in the third match of the Rio 2016 Olympic Tournament group stage when Canada, led by Ancaster's Melissa Tancredi, topped the eventual Gold Medal winners 2-1 at Estadio Nacional Mané Garrincha in Brasilia.

"We're extremely proud and excited to once again partner with Canada Soccer to host an important test match for our Women's National Team prior to their FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying campaign," said Matt Afinec, Executive Vice President, Business Operations for the Tiger-Cats. "We look forward to welcoming soccer fans from throughout the region and across the country to Tim Hortons Field in June."

Individual tickets for the match will go on sale to the public on Thursday, March 8 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.ca. The launch of ticket sales will be preceded by a pre-sale window for Canada Soccer Insiders and Tiger-Cats Season Seat Holders. Tickets to the match start as low $20 (plus applicable fees).

Tim Hortons Field previously hosted Canada Soccer's Women's National Team on May 29, 2015, when they defeated England 1-0 in their final match before the start of the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015.
