Campbell sent down to Eugene

Fort Wayne, IN - Outfielder Mike Campbell was sent from Fort Wayne to the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League, San Diego Padres officials announced today.

Campbell, the 20th-round pick by the Padres in this year's June Amateur Draft out of the University of South Carolina, was one of six outfielders on the Wizards active roster. In 12 games with the Wizards, Campbell was hitting .280 with seven runs scored, four doubles and three runs batted in. He was primarily used as the designated hitter but did appear in two games in the outfield.

Campbell started his professional career with the Arizona League Padres, where he hit .407 with six runs scored, one home run and six runs batted in. He led the Gamecocks with a .364 average in 55 games, hitting four home runs with 49 RBI and scoring 52 runs.
