Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA - Fury FC newcomer Callum Irving impressed at the recent Canadian Men's National Team camp in Fort Lauderdale earning him a selection in the 18-man squad that will travel to Bermuda for an International Friendly on January 22.

"I'm truly honoured to be selected for the 18-man roster for the match against Bermuda," said Irving. "It has been a fantastic week of training and hopefully we can translate all of that hard work into the match on Sunday. I'm also very proud to be representing Ottawa Fury FC and hope that I can make the club proud."

Participating in his third camp with the national team and his first one since signing with Ottawa in early December, Irving is eying his first national team cap. The 23-year-old goalkeeper previously participated in a camp in 2013 in the United States and more recently in February 2016 in San Diego and Los Angeles, ahead of a friendly against the USA.

"We're delighted for him," said Fury FC GM and Head Coach Paul Dalglish. "Ultimately, it's another player that we are sending in the Canadian National Team and that confirms our strong desire to develop players for Canada. We're eager to see Callum in Fury FC colours this season and we wish him and Canada well against Bermuda."

Despite impressing at the camp, Fury FC forward Carl Haworth was not available for selection in the squad, but will be available for Fury FC when preseason opens in two weeks.

Fury FC are set to open training camp for the club's fourth season on February 1 in Ottawa, with the 2017 USL season set to begin March 24-26.

Ottawa Fury FC season tickets for the 2017 USL season are now on-sale at OttawaFuryFC.com, by calling 613.232.6767 X1 or in person at The Box Office at TD Place.
