Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen extended their winning streak to four games and moved into sole possession first place in the Central Division with a 2-0 home ice win over Medicine Hat Saturday night.

Martin Jones tied a franchise record with his 13th career regular season shutout making 33 saves. He now shares the mark with Justin Pogge.

Calgary had 25 shots on goal and scored twice, the first late in the second period on a powerplay from Joel Broda, and the second with ten seconds left into an empty net from Del Cowan.

For Broda, the game winner was his team leading 28th goal of the season and helped the Hitmen complete a home and home sweep of the Tigers.

At 74 points Calgary now holds a one point lead over Kootenay and a two point advantage over Medicine Hat for the Central Division lead. The Hitmen also have two games in hand on the Ice and four games in hand on the Tigers.

Calgary will open a busy stretch of five games in seven days starting Tuesday in Swift Current against the Broncos.
