Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club would like to congratulate forward Tristen Nielsen on being selected to play for Hockey Canada at the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The eight-team tournament will take place Oct. 30 to Nov. 5 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
Nielsen is among 66 players who will be divided into Team Canada Black, Team Canada White and Team Canada Red. Those rosters will be unveiled later this month.
This will be the second time the 16-year-old Hitmen rookie will represent his country. His debut appearance saw Nielsen help Team Canada win silver at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. This past season he skated at Calgary-based Edge School (CSSHL) in the Midget Prep Division. He was also a member of Team Alberta's gold medal performance at the 2015 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup.

The 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will see Team Canada Black, Team Canada White, the Czech Republic and United States play in Group A, while Team Canada Red, Finland, Russia and Sweden will comprise Group B.
The Hitmen, 3-2, will travel to Medicine Hat for a match against the Tigers on Friday, Oct. 14, (7:30 p.m., Sportsnet.ca/960) before hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2:00 p.m., at the 'Dome.
Calgary Hitmen season tickets for the 2016-17 campaign are available at the Scotiabank Saddledome box office or by calling 403-777-4646. Packages include complimentary tickets to the first two Hitmen home playoff games along with game day savings vouchers for concessions, tickets and merchandise. They also feature a flexible exchange program where any Hitmen regular season ticket can be exchanged for another game during the same season.
