Iowa Cubs News Release

METAIRIE, LA - Iowa's offense was stifled in New Orleans as the Baby Cakes (5-8) shutout the I-Cubs (6-7) 8-0, Tuesday at Shrine on Airline.

New Orleans posted a trio of runs in the first on a Matt den Dekker triple and an error, and it was all Baby Cakes from there. Vance Worley dazzled, limiting Iowa to two hits over 7.0 innings while walking one and whiffing three. The righty improved to 1-1 on the season with the win.

Aaron Brooks (2-1) pitched solidly for Iowa, though three I-Cubs errors tacked two unearned runs to his line. The righty lasted 5.0 innings and allowed three earned runs with two walks and a strikeout. Juan Paniagua, added to Iowa's roster today, tossed 1.2 innings and allowed one run with one strikeout in his Triple-A debut.

Destin Hood did most of the destruction against Iowa, going 3-for-4 with one double, one run and three RBI. Ryan Jackson contributed a 2-for-4 game with one RBI.

Victor Caratini claimed two of Iowa's four hits on the night and added a double. Bijan Rademacher also collected a base-knock to extend his hitting streak to five games.

Iowa and New Orleans are back in action tomorrow at noon. Follow along and listen at www.iowacubs.com or on AM 940.
