Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL- Asdrubal Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes, both on rehab assignments from the New York Mets, combined for three hits and two runs batted in, to lead the St. Lucie Mets to a 6-3 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle on Wednesday night at Tradition Field. Even with the loss, the Miracle, despite being in fourth place, remain only two games out of first place in the Florida State League's South Division.

The Miracle jumped out on top in the third inning. Sean Miller led off with a line single to center, and went to second on Daniel Kihle's bunt single. After a double-play ball sent Miller to third, Tanner English tripled to center field to score Miller with the first run of the game.

The Mets answered immediately, scoring twice in the bottom of the frame. Kevin Kacmarski's one-out RBI single tied the score, and Cabrera followed with a sacrifice fly to give the hosts the lead for good at 2-1.

After Luis Guillorme's two-out RBI single in the fourth inning increased the lead to 3-1, St. Lucie added three more runs in the fifth. Run-scoring doubles by Cabrera and Cespedes produced the first two runs of the frame, and Tomas Nido's sacrifice fly scored Cespedes to give the Mets a 6-1 lead after five innings.

The Miracle closed the deficit to 6-2 in the sixth on English's lead-off homerun, and then added one more tally in the seventh when A.J. Murray doubled, took third on a passed ball, and scored on a double-play ball.

The Miracle (61-61, 27-26) and the Mets (63-56, 28-24) will meet for the final time this season at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday night in Port St. Lucie. The game will not be broadcast on www.miraclebaseball.com, but fans can listen to the St. Lucie Mets Broadcast Network and the 'Voice of the Mets' Adam MacDonald.
