Burnside Returning to RedHawks
FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have re-signed RHP Paul Burnside, the club announced. Burnside is the fifth player signed for the 2013 season.
Burnside, 26, joined the RedHawks in spring training last year and became a fixture in the RedHawks rotation. He was 9-6 with a 3.20 ERA in 20 games (18 starts). Burnside pitched 115.1 innings and allowed 52 runs (41 earned) on 101 hits. He struck out 91 batters and walked 62.
Burnside began his professional career in 2009 after being selected by the Chicago White Sox organization in the 39th round of the draft out of Auburn (AL) University. He spend three full seasons in the White Sox chain, going 17-7 with a 3.73 ERA in 49 games (26 starts).
"Paul was solid for us last year. He has a plus fastball and I think with a year under his belt in the league he can come in and be a front-line starter for us again this year," said RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic.
