THE SERIES: This is the 9th and 10 meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays. It's also the third and fourth meetings in a row. In each of the last three match-ups between the two teams, the Bulls have taken the first but unable to close out the IceRays and take the second. Seven of the eight meetings have been decided by three goals or less, while four of them have been decided by one goal. Forwards Gage Christianson, TJ Sarcona and Ryan Cole have combined for 13 goals. Goaltender Paul Berrafato has four wins in the series, while IceRays' netminder Ben Myers has three victories.
WEEKEND REWIND: The Amarillo Bulls split the first two games of the four pack with the Corpus Christi IceRays. On Friday night, Paul Berrafato stopped all 21 shots in a 3-0 victory. Ryan Cole, Clint Carlisle and Blake Roubos notched the goals for the Bulls. The following night, the two teams played a tight defensive game that the IceRays narrowly won 2-1. Gage Christianson notched the lone goal.
SOUTH DIVISION UPDATE: It's an eight point lead for the Amarillo Bulls over the Topeka RoadRunners for first place in the South Division. The next two games for the Bulls are games in hand on the second place RoadRunners and third place Texas Tornado. The RoadRunners have a five point advantage over Texas for home ice. The IceRays have a five-point lead over the Wichita Falls Wildcats for the fourth and final playoff spot.
BULLS NOTES: Saturday's 2-1 loss was just the Bulls' second on home ice this season, and it also snapped an eight game winning streak. The Bulls still have the best winning percentage in the NAHL at .813. With an assist on Saturday, Ryan Cole continued is streak and now has 11 points in his last nine games. The Amarillo Bulls have 608 first period shots which leads all North American Hockey League teams.
