Bulls Quiet the ThunderBolts

February 18, 2018 - SPHL (SPHL) - Birmingham Bulls News Release


The Bulls look to start a fresh winning streak at home tonight against the Evansville Thunderbolts.

Shane Topf gets things started with a goal at 4:12 left in the 1st period. Graham Yeo assists and they'll go to break up 1-0. Evansville gets the edge on shots 17-11.

Shane Topf gets his 2nd goal of the night to start 2nd period scoring just 42 seconds in. Taylor Dickin and Andy Bathgate get the assists. Evansville will pull back within 1 about a minute later (18:15). Then Evan Schultz gets in on the action with a goal 5 minutes in to put the Bulls up by 2, Josh Harris and Steven Phee assisting (14:59). Steven Phee makes it 4-1 with his goal at 13:01 to go in the period. Assists come from Josh Harris and Jacob Barber. Evansville manages to get one back with 2:06 left and the Bulls go to break up 4-2. Birmingham leads the period on shots as well at 18-14.

In a third period that seemed to last forever, the Bulls were out shot 18-7. Only one made it through during a 6-on-5 when Evansville pulled their goalie in favor of the extra skater in the final minutes. The Thunderbolts pull within 1 as they score with 13 second left. The Bulls win 4-3 with 2,746 in attendance and the next winning streak is on. Charlie Millen gets the win stopping 46 of 49 shots for an outstanding .939 save percentage.

The Bulls next home games are March 2nd and 3rd against the Knoxville Ice Bears. March 2nd is onezee night. Wear a onezee to the game and get $3 off admission. March 3rd, the first 1,000 kids will get a Bulls poster compliments of DMS Color in Pelham. Hope to see y'all there. Go Bulls!!
