Amarillo Bulls News Release

BLAINE, MN - The Amarillo Bulls showed why they are one of the most improved teams in the North American Hockey League this season. The Bulls collected their seventh point at the NAHL Showcase when they lost 4-3 in overtime to the Janesville Jets on the final day of the event.

Matt Nicholson's charges concluded the Showcase with a mark of 3-0-1 that equaled their best showing back in the 2011-12 season.

It was a see-saw affair that featured several lead chances. The Bulls held 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 leads only to see the Jets rally and then win the game in overtime. Kosta Likourezos, George Mika and Charlie Singerhouse netted goals for the Bulls, while Kyle Madore took the loss in goal.

Amarillo raced out to a 1-0 lead in the opening period when Kosta Likourezos scored on a back hand that beat the Jets goaltender just under the cross bar. The play was set up by a perfect pass from Michael Forman. The Bulls outshot the Jets 10-9 in the first period.

Janesville tied the game up early in the second period on a goal just after killing off a penalty. Tanner Poglaze finished off a 2 on 1 break up the ice. Special teams gave the Bulls their second lead at 2-1 when George Mika scored on a rocket from Jeff Solo and Kosta Likourezos. Two minutes later the Jets pulled even again as Adrian Holesinky scored on a breakaway. Amarillo regained a one goal lead in the final four minutes when Charlie Singerhouse rattled one off the post from Tyler Hall and Brendan Walkom. Janesville pulled its goaltender in the final minute and scored the tying goal on a point shot from Adam Roeder that beat Madore under the cross bar.

In overtime, the Jets controlled the play early on and then scored on a quick 2 on 1 play up the ice as Cullen Munson tallied at the 2:48 mark.

The Amarillo Bulls were outshot by the Janesville Jets 40-39. The Bulls had the lone power play goal in the contest and prevented Janesville from scoring on four attempts.
