Durham Bulls News Release
Durham, NC - Dan Johnson's solo blast in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Bulls their second straight win, 3-2, on the day the clinched the International League South Division for the second year in a row. Durham clinched when Norfolk and Charlotte were rained out in a game that would not be made up, thereby eliminating the Tides.
The Bulls took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Mike DiFelice, but the Indians came back with runs in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game. Johnson wasted no time in getting the lead back for the Bulls, leading off the bottom of the eighth with his team-leading 24th home run.
RHP Jeremy Cummings (8-3) picked up the win in relief in his first appearance back with Durham since returning from the Olympic games in Beijing. He pitched three innings allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out six. RHP Marino Salas (4-4) took the loss allowing a run on one hit in one inning of work.
The Bulls head to Norfolk for a two-game series with the Tides beginning on Wednesday night at 7:15 PM. Catch all the action live on www.durhambulls.com.
