Lancaster JetHawks News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - John Nogowski delivered a two-out two-run pinch hit walk-off double to lift the Stockton Ports (3-3) over the Lancaster JetHawks (2-2) and salvage the series finale on Wednesday night at Banner Island Ballpark.

JetHawks starter Scott Weathersby gave up just four hits and did not walk a batter over six shutout innings. After striking out only two through the first five innings, he fanned the side in his final frame on the mound.

Two errors on one play by Stockton with two out in the second inning allowed the JetHawks to take a 1-0 lead. Lancaster added another in the third on Jason Martin's two-out RBI triple, scoring Bobby Boyd from first base. Boyd's RBI fielder's choice in the fifth made it 3-0.

Stockton crept closer with a pair of runs in the seventh inning and it remained 3-2 until the ninth.

Kevin Comer tossed 1.1 shutout innings in relief for the JetHawks, walking two and striking out two. Angel Heredia (0-1) took the loss, coming one out away from earning the save and allowing the JetHawks to complete the sweep. The right-hander walked a pair, but both runs he allowed were unearned due to a throwing error by shortstop Jose Fernandez to open the inning.

Lancaster went just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position. The JetHawks committed three errors, while Stockton had four.

The JetHawks open their home schedule Thursday night at The Hanger with the first of a four-game series against the High Desert Mavericks. Elieser Hernandez (0-0) will get the start against Ariel Jurado (0-0). First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. The first 1,000 fans in attendance for Opening Night will receive a JetHawks magnet schedule presented by Planet Fitness.
