Bullpen Struggles Continue As Skeeters Drop Series To Blue Crabs

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS- The Sugar Land Skeeters fell to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5-2 on Wednesday night and have dropped two straight series. The Skeeters are now only a game over .500 at 30-29 and are four games behind York for 1st place in the Freedom Division.
Parker Frazier picked up his 4th loss of the season, going four innings, giving up two runs on six hits with three walks. Tim Sexton earned his 2nd win, going seven innings, giving up one run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Norberto Susini opened the scoring when he singled home Michael Snyder in the top of the 1st to give the Blue Crabs a 1-0 lead. Jeff Dominguez belted his 7th home run of the season in the bottom of the 3rd to tie it back up at 1-1. D'Arby Myers quickly broke the tie in the top of the 4th with a single to center that scored Kuan-Jen Chen to give the Blue Crabs a 2-1 lead.
Kuan-Jen Chen tacked on two more runs for the Blue Crabs in the top of the 5th on a triple that would score Norberto Susini and Michael Snyder to put the Blue Crabs up 4-1. Bryant Nelson's single in the 6th pushed across D'Arby Myers to extend Southern Maryland's lead to 5-1. Jeremy Barfield went 1-3 with an RBI that came in the 8th to make it 5-2 and extended his hitting streak to eight consecutive games. Barfield has now hit safely in 23 of his last 25 games. Cody Eppley would come on in the 9th to record his 12th save.
