Bullfrogs Win on Walk-Off Sac Fly

Green Bay, Wis - The Bullfrogs take down the Rockford Rivets 4-3 in a come from behind victory. Trailing by a run in the ninth, the Bullfrogs scored two to earn the walk-off win. Jonah Davis (UC-Berkeley) hit a sac fly to end the ballgame and gave the Bullfrogs their 13th win of the second half. The Bullfrogs sweep the two game series against the Rivets and now have a 4-2 season series lead.
After being held scoreless in the first five innings, the Bullfrogs were able to push across a couple runs. Quincy Nieporte (Florida State) led off the inning with a solo shot to left field to give the Bullfrogs their first lead of the game. Parker Coss would reach for the third time as he singled into left field. A walk to Laren Eustace (Indiana) and a fielder ' s choice by Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC) gave the Bullfrogs runners on first and third with two outs. Colton Onstott (Dodge City CC) hit a ground ball to shortstop Jack Wassel (Minnesota) and Wassel ' s throw to first was high. The error allowed Coss to score, and the Bullfrogs took a 2-0 lead after six.
In the top of the eighth, the Rivets would come back and take the lead. With two outs in the inning, Neil Tyrell (Lewis University) hit a two run home run to tie the ballgame at two. Still in the eighth, Ryan Long (Texas Tech) reached on a base hit and that would end the night for Lind. Blake Rutherford (St. Norberts) came into the ballgame to face Hunter Hargrove (Texas Tech). After a stolen base by Long, Hargrove hit a single into left field to score Long and give the Rivets their first lead.
Trailing in the ninth, the Bullfrogs mounted a rally. Onstott lead the inning off with a walk. He was replaced by Chris Botsoe (Louisville) on the bases. A sacrifice bunt by Josh Hollander (Kent State) and an infield single by Austin Clemons (Louisville) put runners at first and third with one out. Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir-Rhyne) would shoot a single to the left side to bring home the tying run. Another infield single by Nieporte loaded the bases for the Bullfrogs. Jonah Davis (UC-Berkeley) hit a fly ball to shallow center. Clemons tagged up and headed home. It was a bang-bang play at the plate and Clemons was called safe. The Bullfrogs earned the walk-off victory.
Starting pitcher Luke Lind (North Dakota State) went seven straight scoreless innings but ran into trouble in the eighth inning. He finished going seven and two-thirds, allowing three runs on five hits. Blake Rutherford earned his first victory as he went the final inning and a third.
The Bullfrogs welcome the Kalamazoo Growlers to town for a two game series starting tomorrow. First pitch from Joannes Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
