Green Bay, Wis. - The Bullfrogs have announced the signings of three left-handed pitchers for the 2016 Season. Matt McCarthy, Stuart Springer, and Matt Gunter will be playing their summer ball in Green Bay.

Matt McCarthy is playing his junior season with the Penn State Baseball Club and will return to the Bullfrogs for another summer at Joannes. Last season with the team, he finished the season with a 1-1 record and appeared in 15 games. This season with Penn State, McCarthy has split time as a starter and in relief roles. Holding a 3-2 record, he has been missing bats at an impressive rate with 27 punch outs in 24 innings pitched. McCarthy is the nephew of Green Bay Packers Head Coach, Mike McCarthy.

Stuart Springer is currently in his senior season at St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas. Springer joined St. Edwards this season, after spending the prior two years at Virginia Tech. He has had tremendous success thus far with the Hilltoppers. Appearing in 12 games, with 10 starts, Springer has a team leading 8 wins with an ERA of 2.20. In 61.1 innings pitched, he has struck out 54 and held opposing hitters to a .224 batting average on the season.

Gunter is in his junior season at Hawaii Pacific University. Gunter joined HPU after two season of throwing for American River College. He has made 7 starts for the Sharks this year and holds a record of 2-2. Gunter has struck out 33 batters in 39.1 innings on the season.

Coach Skip Handelsman, understands the importance of left-handed pitching, especially in late game situations, "We are excited to have all three of these guys in Green Bay for the summer. Quality left handed pitching is hard to find and you can never have enough of it. These three will give us depth in our starting rotation and the opportunity to match up with people late in games out of the bullpen."

The Bullfrogs will open up the 2016 season at home on May 31st against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Single game tickets are on sale now! For information on group outings and corporate events call the Bullfrogs office at (920) 497-7225.
