Bullfrogs Finish Four Game Road Trip against the Growlers
June 24, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - It was a tough loss for the Bullfrogs last night as they lost a close ballgame to the Kalamazoo Growlers. The Bullfrogs were down 4-3 heading into the seventh inning but were unable to plate a run in the last three innings of the game. During this road trip, the Bullfrogs are currently 1-2 with an overall record that stands at 8-15.
Dakota Klein (Texas A&M) got the start for the Bullfrogs but unfortunately the start didn't go as planned. The left hander struggled with command as he walked four batters in a little over one inning before being replaced by Peter Castillo (Palm Beach State). Castillo didn't fare any better as he walked four batters in less than an inning of work. But the rest of the bullpen stepped up as Luke VanLanen (Valparaiso), Matt Gunter (Hawaii Pacific), and Harrisen Egly (Columbia) shut down the Growlers as they only allowed one run on three hits in six innings of work.
The offense struggled to put together a big inning as they scored their one run in three separate innings. The Bullfrogs were led offensively by Quincy Nieporte (Florida State) who finished the day with two hits and scored two of the Bullfrogs three runs. In the sixth, the Bullfrogs left the bases loaded after only scoring one run. This would be the last real chance the Bullfrogs had offensively.
Tonight, Matt Ellenbest (Morehead State) will get his first start of the season for the Bullfrogs. Out of the bullpen this season, Ellenbest has a 2.79 ERA in over nine innings of work. He will look to give the bullpen some much needed rest. The Growlers send Michael Brettell (Central Michigan) to the mound. He is 2-1 on the year with a 6.07 ERA.
First pitch is at 7:05 ET.
