Bulldogs Win over Storm

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs completed the season sweep of the Guelph Storm with a 5-4 win Saturday night.

After hitting three goal posts in the opening six minutes, Matthew Strome (4) banged in a rebound to give Hamilton a 1-0 lead at the 6:34 mark. The Storm replied on the power-play to tie the game 1-1 at 12:45.

The Bulldogs re-took the lead with a power-play goal of their own just over two minutes later as Niki Petti (4) made it 2-1 at 14:57.

Hamilton took at 2-1 lead to the dressing room with the shots tied at 11-11.

Guelph tied the game at 2-2 at 8:08 of the second period only to see the Bulldogs take the lead right back at 3-2 at 10:21. Michael Cramarossa (5) scored with Will Bitten getting one of the assists . For Bitten, it's his first point since being acquired in a trade with Flint in September.

Guelph out-shot the Bulldogs 18-16 in the second to lead 29-27 after 40 minutes.

The Bulldogs opened up a 4-2 lead at 8:41 of the third on a Matt Luff (6) goal at 8:41. The Storm kept coming and cut the lead to 4-3 with a goal 59 second later only to see the Bulldogs get their two goal lead back at 11:54. Marian Studenic (2) scored what turned out to be the game winning goal. Guelph used a 2-man advantage to again cut the Hamilton lead down to one at 14:02.

The Bulldogs went on to a 5-4 win with Hamilton outshooting Guelph 15-13 in the third with final shots on goal even at 42.

The win improves the Bulldogs season record to 5-1.

Hamilton is back at home ice on Saturday October 15th as they host the Sudbury Wolves at FristOntario Centre at 7 o'clock.
