Bulldogs Take Game 1 with a 6-3 Win over Ottawa

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs opened up their first-round playoff series with a 6-3 home-ice win over the Ottawa 67's Thursday night.
Not a great start for the Bulldogs as the visitors from Ottawa had the early jump keeping Hamilton on their heels. The 67's got their first power-play and took at 1-0 lead at 13:16. The Bulldogs went on the power-play and tied the game 1-1 as Matthew Strome (1) finished off a nice 3-way passing play at 17:45.
It was a wild 2nd period as Hamilton out-scored Ottawa 3-2 with an end-to-end goal from Ben Gleason (1), Robert Thomas (1) fired home a rebound capped off with a Brandon Saigeon (1) goal as the Black and Gold finished forty minutes with a 4-3 lead.
The Bulldogs got an insurance goal at 8:16 of the 3rd period as Saigeon (2) scored on the power-play to make it 5-3 with Thomas (2) putting the exclamation point on his 4-point night with an empty netter at 19:33.
Hamilton out-shot Ottawa 25-23 as Bulldogs goalie Kaden Fulcher picked up his first OHL playoff win.
