Bulldogs Select 16 in OHL Priority Selection

HAMILTON, ONTARIO -The Hamilton Bulldogs have selected 16 players in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.
With the third overall selection the Bulldogs picked forward Connor Roberts. Roberts scored 19 goals and 20 assists in 28 games this season with the Grey-Bruce Highlanders. The 6'3" 204 pound forward also represented Canada at the World Youth Olympics winning a Silver Medal. Roberts finished the tournament with three goals and one assist in four games.
Bulldogs President and General Manager Steve Staios says, "We have been watching Connor closely all season and are thrilled to call his name as the 3rd overall pick." Staios adds, "Connor Roberts has all the attributes and character that we hold in high regard at the Hamilton Bulldogs and he will be a big part of our organization moving forward."
In the second round the Bulldogs used their 39th overall pick to select D.J King. The Mississauga Rebels defenceman played 65 games this past season and collected seven goals and 22 assists. The, 6'3", 206-pounder is the son of former NHLer Derek King.
In the 3rd round, 45th overall, the Bulldogs selected St. Catharines native Riley McCourt. The 5'11" 172 pound defenceman played 33 games with the Niagara North Stars scoring nine goals and 11 assists.
With their second pick in the 3rd round, 55th overall, the Bulldogs picked Jacob Pivonka from the Chicago Mission U16. The 5'11" 186 pound forward played 10 goals and 12 assists in 22 games.
In the 4th round, 81st overall, Hamilton grabbed forward Jake Murray from the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs. In 32 games the 5'8" 141 pound collected 23 goals and 28 assists.
The Bulldogs then snagged forward Derek Seguin in the 6th round with the 105th pick. The 5'10" 160 pounder played for the Hamilton Huskies this past season. In 33 games he recorded 29 goals and 19 assists.
With the 126th pick of the draft Hamilton selected goaltender Tanner Sheppard in the 7th round. The 6'3" 214 pound Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs product posted a record of 14-1-3-2.
The Bulldogs second selection in the 7th round was Tyler Spott. The 5'9" 150 pound defenceman scored seven goals and 14 assists with the Toronto Marlboros.
In the 9th round, 165th overall, Hamilton picked Brian Bygrave from the Kanata Lasers. At 6'1" 177 pounds the forward recorded 13 goals and 17 assists in 44 games.
With their 10th round pick, 185th overall, Hamilton selected forward Dylan D'Agostino from the North Bay Trappers. The 5'11" forward scored 12 goals and 12 assists in 26 games.
The Bulldogs used their 11th round, 205th overall, pick to grab Hunter Nofs from the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies. The 5'9" 178 pound forward scored 31 goals and 28 assists in 59 games.
In the 12th round the Bulldogs selected another Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs player. With the 245nd pick they selected defenceman Trevor LeDonne. The 5'11" 189 pounder scored five goals and 18 assists in 30 games.
Hamilton selected Kyle Fisher with the 245th overall selection in the 13th round. The forward out of the London Jr. Knights program netted 18 goals and 22 assists in 33 games.
With the 265th pick in the 14th round the Bulldogs selected defenceman Sean Blimkie. Standing 6'1" 161 pounds Blimkie suited up for the Whitby Wildcats this season and scored eight goals and five assists.
In the 15th and final round Hamilton had two picks. They used the 282nd pick to lock down Evan McIntyre from the Mississauga Rebels. The 5'8" 143 pounds McIntyre collected three goals and 22 assists in 71 games.
