Brantford Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. It was billed as an early season showdown as the top two teams in the Eastern Conference went at it as the Sudbury Wolves edged the Hamilton Bulldogs 6-4 Friday night at the Sudbury Community Arena.

The hometown Wolves got off to a quick start taking a 2-0 lead before Bulldogs rookie Connor Roberts (2) cut the lead to 2-1 at 12:46, only to see the Wolves go up 3-1 with a late power-play goal.

The Wolves Dmitry Sokolov took over early in the second with back to back goals as the Wolves took a 5-1 lead. Sokolov finished the night with the hat-trick, including the game winner.

The Bulldogs began to claw back as Isaac Nurse (2) scored to make it 5-2 midway through the second period.

The comeback continued in the third as Matthew Strome (6) and then Trent Fox (2) on the power-play cut the Sudbury lead to 5-4, but an empty netter by the Wolves ended the scoring at 19:39.

The Bulldogs outshot the Wolves 40-35.

The loss snapped the Bulldogs winning streak at four as their regular season record dips to 6-2.

Sudbury is now 5-2-1-0 good for 11 points, just one back of Hamilton.

The two teams will wrap up the home and home series Saturday night at FirstOntario Centre at 7pm.
