Bucks Beat Allen To Move Into Third Alone

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Allen Americans 6-1 Thursday night in front of 5,489 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks win coupled with Texas' loss in Corpus moves the Bucks into sole possession of third place in the Southern Conference. Laredo has won three straight games to improve to 28-18-9 (65 points).

Pier Pelletier won his sixth straight decision in net as he set aside 31 of 32 shots he faced in net for the Bucks (16-6-6 at home) as they beat the Americans for the first time in team history.

Laredo has won four straight home games for the just the second time this season.

The Bucks jumped out in front of the Americans as they took a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Laredo scored just 12 seconds into the game when Curtis Billsten hammered in a slap shot from the middle of the hash marks to score his eighth goal of the season.

The Bucks would increase their advantage to 2-0 when they struck on the power-play 8:24 into the first. Darryl Smith scored on a rebound from the bottom of the right circle to pick up his team-leading 30th goal of the campaign.

Laredo would strike on the power-play again with just 50 seconds left in the first period as they caught a break. Mike Looby's slap shot from the point was batted down and into the back of the net by an Allen defender to put the Bucks up 3-0. Looby now has nine goals on the season.

The Bucks outshot the Americans 15-7 in the first period.

Allen got on the board with just 1:10 left in the second period when Bruce Graham tipped in a shot on the power-play to score his team-leading 26 of the season.

Laredo was outshot in the second period 18-14.

Jarred Mohr (8:47), Ryan Lehr (15:57) and Robin Richards (17:11) scored in the third period to give the Bucks a 6-1 lead. Laredo's six goals matched a season-high.

The Bucks outshot the Americans 46-32 in the game.

The Bucks will play their 500th regular season game in franchise history Friday night in Texas at the NYTEX Sports Center. Game time is 7pm.

**BUCKS RELEASE HOLLADAY**

Prior to Thursday's game the Bucks released defenseman Jay Holladay. Holladay played in 28 games for the Bucks picking up five points (2-35) with a minus-nine rating.

On Monday March 8th the Bucks will host Ladies Hockey 101 at the LEC hosted by Terry Ruskowski and the Bucks players.

Ladies will have the opportunity to learn the skills of the game from coach Rosco and the Bucks players. You will also get to have dinner with the team, a locker room tour, receive a gift bag and much more!

**COMMUNITY JOB FAIR MARCH 20**

The Bucks will hold the first annual community job fair presented by Staff Connection on Saturday March 20th at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

The job fair is from 12-5pm followed by a tailgate mixer before the Bucks host Wichita in their regular season finale at the LEC. Admission to the job fair is FREE with applicants getting to meet with around 20 companies that day. For more information call 718-BUCK (2825).
