Brown Signs AHL Contract with San Antonio

Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today that defenseman Travis Brown has signed an American Hockey League contract with the San Antonio Rampage. As a part of a working agreement with the Thunder, Brown will be assigned to Wichita when he is not playing for the Rampage.

Brown, 24, enters his fourth year as a pro. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound blueliner had his best statistical season as a pro. He finished with 36 points (10g, 26a) in 67 games and was named as an assistant captain in the final third of the year.

"I'm extremely grateful to be joining the St. Louis Blues and San Antonio Rampage organizations," commented Brown. "I give thanks to Head Coach Malcolm Cameron and the Wichita Thunder for providing me with the opportunity to play in all situations to grow my game this past year. I'm excited for to get things going for the upcoming season."

The former Chicago Blackhawks draft pick (2012, round 5, #149) turned pro in 2015-16 when he signed a one year, two-way agreement with the St. John's IceCaps. He played most the season with the Brampton Beast, collecting 22 points (8g, 14a) in 55 games. He also appeared in three games for the IceCaps, adding one goal.

Prior to turning pro, Brown played five seasons in the Western Hockey League for the Moose Jaw Warriors and Victoria Royals. His best year came in 2014-15 when he piled up 57 points (18g, 39a) in 71 games. Overall, he finished with 181 points (48g, 133a) in 281 career games in the WHL. Brown was also a participant in the Montreal Canadians NHL rookie tournament before the start of the 2015-16 season.
