Colorado Rapids News Release
CARSON, Calif. - The Colorado Rapids earned their second straight 1-0 victory on Saturday night, taking a road victory over Chivas USA. In similar fashion to last week's win against Real Salt Lake, the Rapids scored an early goal, survived a penalty kick, and held the lead.
Deshorn Brown scored the game's only goal in the 7th minute, finishing from the penalty spot after being taken down in the box. Later in the first half, the referee awarded a penalty against Colorado, but the shot hit the crossbar and bounced clear. Rapids first-year goalkeeper Clint Irwin has now faced four penalty kicks in his first four MLS starts. Rapids player Anthony Wallace also made his first appearance for the club since August of 2011 following injuries over the last two seasons.
