Clearwater Threshers News Release

Domonic Brown collected two hits and drove in a run for the Threshers on Monday, but Clearwater suffered an 8-1 loss at the hands of the Jupiter Hammerheads in the series opener at Roger Dean Stadium.

The Phillies outfielder played the front seven innings in right field for Clearwater, making his fourth start in a rehab assignment. Brown has been sidelined since March 19 with tendinitis in his achilles.

Jupiter (3-2) plated one run each in the first and third innings, but broke the game open with a four-spot off starter Colin Kleven (0-1) in the fourth inning.

Two singles and a hit batsman loaded the bases for the Hammerheads to open the inning. Yefri Perez followed by lining a single to left. The ball was misplayed by left fielder Dylan Cozens for an error, allowing all three baserunners plus Perez to score on the play.

Kleven gave the Threshers five innings, and was tagged for seven runs on 11 hits and a walk in his season debut.

On the opposite end, Chris Sadberry (1-0) held the Clearwater offense to just a pair of singles across five shutout innings.

The lone run for Clearwater (2-3) came in the sixth inning.

Mitch Walding opened the frame with a single off reliever Juancito Martinez, and with one out Drew Stankiewicz reached on an error by second baseman Avery Romero. Brown followed that up by grounding a single up the middle to bring home Walding.

The Threshers look to even up the series on Tuesday, as Matt Imhof (0-1) is scheduled to take the hill against Jupiter's Ryan Newell (1-0). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
