Brett Skinner Wins CHL Easton Player of the Month

Allen, Texas - The Central Hockey League announced today that Brett Skinner has been named the Easton Player of the Month in the CHL.
Skinner, currently on the 14-day injured reserve list, leads all defenseman in points with 21, including 5 goals and 16 assists, in 17 games played. He holds the longest point streak so far on the Americans team this season, with at least one point in his first 13 games. That tied Jason Deitsch, who opened last season with a 13-game point streak.
"Brett Skinner is a 'top of the food chain' offensive player in this league, we knew that when we signed him," said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "He's also been solid defensively, he's been physical, he finishes his checks, and he takes a hit to make a play. He's been absolutely fabulous."
The Americans signed Brett Skinner as a free agent this past off-season, after playing across the pond last year. Skinner has played at the American Hockey League level for the majority of his career, playing in 329 games over his eight year professional career. He also played in 11 games for the New York Islanders, in 2008-2009.
He becomes the second Americans player to win an award this season, joining Steve Silverthorn, who won Goalie of the Week and Month in October.
The Americans return to action on Friday night at home against the expansion Denver Cutthroats at 7:05 pm.
